Canada Post AddressComplete Integration with Modular Solutions
Modular Solutions embeds Canada Post AddressComplete directly into the mailing address fields of the platform. As a user types, Canada Post suggests verified Canadian addresses; when one is selected, Modular populates the record and checks it for postal code and province consistency. The result is cleaner mailing address data captured the first time, with less manual entry and less cleanup later.
Accurate mailing address data matters across the insurance lifecycle. From new business intake through policy servicing and document delivery, insurers, MGAs and brokerages depend on dependable customer contact information to keep correspondence moving.
Why Mailing Address Accuracy Matters in Insurance
Address entry happens constantly — at new business intake, policy updates, claims submissions and general contact record management. Each manual entry is an opportunity for error: a misspelled street name, an incorrect postal code, or a province entered in a non-standard format. Over time these small errors accumulate into a data quality problem.
Poor mailing address data affects:
- Whether customer correspondence and policy documents actually arrive
- How much time staff spend correcting and re-sending
- The consistency of contact records across the platform
- Overall data quality in reporting
Returned mail, servicing delays and manual correction work all add cost and friction.
Integration Note
Rating and underwriting depend on the risk address, which is a separate feature in Modular and does not use Canada Post. See our Google Maps integration for how risk addresses are captured.
What the Canada Post AddressComplete Integration Does
The integration embeds address autocomplete into the entry experience, so correct, consistently formatted mailing data is captured the first time instead of cleaned up afterwards.
How It Works
1. Address capture — A user begins typing into a mailing address field. The embedded Canada Post component offers matching addresses to choose from.
2. Population — On selection, Modular fills the address lines, city, province, postal code and country. No manual formatting needed.
3. Validation — Modular checks the saved address for Canadian postal code format and province alignment.
4. Manual entry when needed — If no suitable match appears, or the user is handling a special case, the address can still be entered manually.
5. Use across workflows — Once captured, the mailing address supports policy administration, document generation, customer correspondence and servicing activities.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Canada Post AddressComplete integration do within Modular Solutions?
It embeds real-time address autocomplete into Modular Solutions mailing address fields. As a user types, suggested addresses appear. When one is selected, the structured address is populated into the appropriate fields without manual completion or formatting, and Modular checks the postal code and province for consistency.
What address data does the integration populate?
Street address lines (Line 1 and Line 2), city, province name, province code, postal code and country name.
Canada Post can also return unit and building details and a property-type indicator, but Modular does not currently use those fields. Latitude and longitude are not populated by this integration.
Does the integration identify apartment or unit numbers, or whether an address is residential or commercial?
Not today. Canada Post’s service can return that information, but Modular does not currently read or store it, and it does not affect any workflow, rating or routing in the platform.
Does the integration provide latitude and longitude for an address?
No. Coordinates are not taken from Canada Post. Where Modular needs map coordinates, they are obtained through a separate lookup — see our Google Maps integration for how this is completed.
Does the Modular Solutions platform distinguish between mailing address and risk address?
Yes — and they use different providers. Mailing addresses use Canada Post AddressComplete. Risk addresses use a separate Google-based search and validation. The two are distinct features with distinct data sources.
How does this integration improve data quality in insurance workflows?
By suggesting standardized addresses at the point of entry, it reduces misspelled, incomplete and inconsistently formatted mailing records. That means more consistent contact data, fewer manual corrections, and better odds that policy correspondence and documents reach the right address.
Where does the address lookup happen, and is the lookup data stored?
The Canada Post component runs in the user’s browser and communicates with Canada Post directly. Modular’s servers are not in the request path and Modular does not store or log the lookup traffic — only the address the user selects or types is saved as part of your record.
Does this replace manual address entry?
It reduces the need for it, but users can still enter address information manually whenever necessary.
How is Canada Post AddressComplete priced?
The cost is covered by Modular Solutions. AddressComplete is fully integrated into the platform for the benefit of our clients.
