Simplified.ID Sanctions Screening Integration for Modular Solutions

Simplified.ID Sanctions Screening Integration with Modular Solutions

Simplified.ID brings automated sanctions screening into Modular Solutions. Where a product is configured for it, the platform screens the named insured against global sanctions and watch lists as the policy moves through quote, advance and issue – without anyone having to launch a check.

If any match is returned, Modular Solutions records a sanctions flags and automatically suspends binding. Screening happens the same way every time, and every check leaves a record for compliance and audit.

Automated Sanctions Screening Built Into the Policy Lifecycle

Insurance organizations need a reliable way to screen applicants and organizations against global sanctions lists during underwriting and application review. They also need to be able to evidence that screening later. Handled manually, the check depends on someone remembering to run it and file the results.

Simplified.ID moves the control into the policy lifecycle itself. Screening is driven by product configuration rathe than by user action, so it runs at defined stages, on every policy those stages apply to. Because the platform suspends binding whenever a match is returned, a sanctions hit stops the transaction automatically rather than relying on a user to notice it.

How the Simplified.ID Sanctions Screening Integration Works

1. Screening runs automatically at configured policy stages

When a policy reaches a configured stage — quote, advance or issue — Modular Solutions sends the named insured’s details to Simplified.ID and receives back a count of matching entries across the sanctions and watch lists it covers. Individual named insureds are screened on name and date of birth; organizations are screened on organization name. If a product is not configured for screening, no screening takes place.

2. Any match automatically suspends binding

If one or more matching entries are returned, Modular Solutions records a sanctions flag that underwriting rules can act on and suspends binding with the reason “Sanction”. There is no match scoring, ranking or confidence threshold — any match at all suspends binding pending review.

3. Matches are reviewed in the Simplified.ID portal

Modular Solutions records that a match exists; it does not display the matching entries. Users follow a link from the policy to the Simplified.ID portal to review the detail and decide how to proceed. Binding stays suspended until that review is resolved.

4. Policies are re-screened at renewal and on mid-term changes

A policy is screened again when it renews and when it is changed mid-term. Where the same name, date of birth and address have been screened within the previous 30 days, the existing result is reused instead of running a new search.

Sanctions and Watch Lists Covered

The integration screens against:

  • European Union consolidated sanctions list
  • United Kingdom — HM Treasury, including the Ukraine list
  • United States — OFAC and OFAC Consolidated
  • Australia — DFAT
  • Canada — OSFI, Canadian Justice and SEMA
  • Switzerland — SECO

What the Integration Screens and What It Does Not

The scope of the Simplified.ID integration includes:

  • Named insureds are screened. Other parties on a policy are not.
  • Name, date of birth and address are used. Country and nationality are never sent to Simplified.ID.
  • Sanctions and watch lists only. The integration does not perform politically exposed person (PEP) screening, identity verification, adverse media screening, DBS checks or enhanced due diligence.
  • No background monitoring. Screening occurs at configured policy stages, at renewal and on mid-term changes — not on a continuous or scheduled basis.

Key Capabilities of the Simplified.ID Integration

Automatic screening, no manual step

Screening is triggered by the policy lifecycle and product configuration, so it does not depend on a user initiating a search.

Automatic binding suspension

A match suspends binding with the reason “Sanction”, stopping the transaction until the match has been reviewed.

The sanctions flag is available to underwriting rules, so insurers can build their own referral and escalation handling around it.

Audit-ready screening records

Each check and its result are retained in Modular Solutions to support compliance reviews, internal governance and audit preparation.

Re-screening at renewal and mid-term change

Policies are screened again at the points where the risk or the insured may have changed, with 30-day reuse of identical searches to avoid duplicate checks.

Business Benefits of the Simplified.ID Sanctions Screening Integration

1

Apply sanctions screening consistently, on every policy the product configuration covers.

2

Remove the manual step of launching a screening check during underwriting.

3

Stop binding automatically when a match is returned, rather than relying on manual intervention.

4

Maintain clear, retained records of screening activity.

5

Support audit readiness with a documented screening history.

6

Build their own referral handling on the sanctions flag through underwriting rules.

Why Insurers, MGAs and Program Brokers Embed Sanctions Screening in Underwriting

Insurance organizations operate in regulated environments where both the screening and the evidence of it are examined. A control that runs automatically at defined points in the policy lifecycle is easier to evidence than one that depends on individual users, and easier to defend in an audit.

Embedding Simplified.ID in the Modular Solutions platforms gives insurers, MGAs and program brokers a consistent screening step, enforced by an automatic hold on binding and recorded in the same system where the policy lives.
